A GHOST FROM A PERFECT PLACE
project overview
A Ghost from a Perfect Place is a dark, intense play by Philip Ridley that explores themes of nostalgia, violence, and the haunting grip of the past in a rapidly changing East End. For this project, we were tasked with designing both the set and costume to reflect the play’s atmosphere and underlying tensions.

research
I have family links to Bethnal Green in the 1960s, so I explored different research routes to evoke nostalgia and relatability in my set and costume design. I aimed to use accurate references, avoiding stereotypes of the era, and focused on real people and lived experiences rather than relying solely on media portrayals like films & TV shows.
