Medea: the rave

my concept
Medea The Rave is a site-specific design project that blends the raw energy of house music and dance with the emotional intensity of the Greek tragedy. Set in the abandoned warehouse-like space of St. Athens Boys Village, the rave becomes a metaphor for Medea’s emotional descent into madness and revenge. Throughout the project, I embraced my Welsh heritage by reading the Welsh translation of Medea, allowing the language to deeply inform the design and narrative. Through pulsating beats and chaotic dance, the piece embodies Medea’s overwhelming grief and rage, transforming her tragic journey into a visceral, immersive experience. The boundaries between performance and audience blur, allowing participants to feel the intensity of Medea’s turmoil, making the ancient story come alive in a modern, emotional escape.
